Dear Potted fellows,
I’m writing this post because, as you know, Potted is a true hobby for me, one I devote a lot of time to, and I believe it’s entirely possible to self-finance it with a little care.
Essentially, if you can’t buy what you want (harvest bowls, pots, etc.) through your own sales, your strategy is probably not geared towards profit for self-sufficiency, or you’re a new player.
NYM‘S POTTED STRATEGY FOR 2025 / 2026
RARITY, LEVELS, AND CLONES
Over time, Potted changes, transforms, it continually amazes us, but there are some essential and evergreen basics that all players should consider. Let’s start with the first: I assume you’ve seen the post on the Potted website about seeds rarity and pot levels; if you haven’t, you absolutely have to check it out HERE .
To put it very simply, there are rarer and less rare seeds. If you plant rare seeds in high-level pots, you have a better chance of cloning them. Obviously, the difficulty decreases proportionally as the pot levels up. In the past, players used to believe that only pots allowed cloning, but fortunately, it’s now clear that cloning also depends on the rarity of seeds.
PLAY WITH CLONES – MAKE YOUR PRODUCTION PROFITABLE
So how to make a profitable production? Simple. If you get any LE of the month, great – but primarily, you should look for rare clones: try to obtain them, and then release them to the market, obviously by respecting their value and by avoiding flooding in order to preserve their rarity.
To do this, you need to level your pots: they often clone from low levels, but most often, starting at high levels. However, test the pot beforehand: during the leveling journey, any pot may give you a LE of the month. Obviously, not all Elite pots will clone and you can’t expect to clone everything easily, but out of 20 harvest bowls, if you have good pots and a good amount of medium-hard seeds to clone (not super-hard ones), there’s a good chance to get at least 1 clone.
MATCHY MATCHY
Another fundamental aspect, that I always consider at the core of the game, are “pot + seed” matches, that we use to call “Matchy-Matchy”. Currently, in my opinion, the game is played on two levels: there are collectors of Matchy-Matchy and there are players looking for seeds to plant and to clone. If you think a Matchy-Matchy is particularly interesting and rare (like Benefit Pots with their matchy seeds), it’s certainly a good idea to buy it and level it up, also as an investment for a future resale.
Indeed, in some circumstances, for very rare and specials, the value of Matchy-Matchy may increase over time; this is a sale that sometimes takes a little longer, but it will certainly arrive at the right time and it will give you satisfaction. Keep in mind: a match should never be sold off at a low price. Never!
REPOTTING AND CLONING MATCHY-MATCHY
If you don’t have the patience to wait and you prefer to feed players looking for seeds to plant or clone, my advice is to use high-level common pots. For example, I’m often repotting: I plant those seeds I’m looking to clone in my best-cloning pots, and the magic happens. However, always remember to keep at least a couple of clones of the seed you dig out while you repot, as you may want to replant them later.
If you manage to level Matchy-Mathy, you could have a winning cloning combination — one of those rare, but not impossible. Even if you plan to level them up, it’s always worth some harvesting try across the journey: you have to know your pots the best as you can, and this is a good way! In any case, they may give you monthly LEs, depending on their levels.

ELITE POTS & DROPS
Finally, the last of the game’s fundamentals it concerns the monthly drop expectations from high-level pots. While in breedables, pets stop reproducing at a certain point, this doesn’t happen with Potted. Nevertheless, a monthly drop becomes increasingly difficult to obtain, even with Elite-level pots.
Essentially, an Elite drop is generally much rarer than the others and it has much more value. You won’t always get them: this prevents any market-flooding, but it also allows you to get something very special if you get it. Please, don’t complain about it, this is brilliant and useful for everyone! Take a look at other games/breedables where high-level pets stops reproducing! We can consider ourselves very lucky that our Elite pots continue to produce; we just need to understand how they work:
1) Elites are excellent for cloning;
2) when we get an Elite drop, that seed will be often more valuable than others (it can be an Elite LE of the Month or a seed from an Elite Serie)!
PRODUCE TO SELL
Imagine buying a pack of 20 harvest bowls for 840 L$: if your production includes a good number of high-level pots and medium-high rare seeds to clone, you’ll probably get at least 1 clone to resell. That’s it: you’ve paid your harvest bowls, and all that comes in is additional income, or a new seed to plant, or alternatively truck points for the seeds you don’t use or compost.
My suggestion is to have a good percentage of super-rare seeds to clone (and if this happens, that’s your jackpot), but your production should include a very wide number of medium-to-high rarity seeds to ensure quicker sales and to be able this way to continue your steady harvesting.
You might consider the production percentage: 20% super-rare seeds, 80% medium-high rare seeds. But more than the percentage, consider harvesting the medium-high rares first, that way, once you get your first clone and you’re confident you’ve repaid your harvest bowls, you can move on to harvesting the super-rare ones.
An example: we can say 1 cloned seeds worth around $1,500 it allows you to pay for the 20 harvest bowls and also to rent a stall at an official market. Imagine working this way every week: one single good clone supports your hobby, and all the other seeds you get represent a veritable treasure trove to manage as you see fit.
IT’S STATISTICS
Yes, there may be bad days, and sometimes clones might take a while to arrive — I won’t deny that. However, I have to say that this happens very rarely. It’s obvious that the more plants you have, the greater is the chance of success. Also remember to have plants of varying levels, because we don’t know where the LE seeds come from; drop levels may change every month!
Always emphasizing that without thinking in statistical terms, there’s no strategy, it’s also important to point out that your production should be made up primarily of LE seeds. Use non-LE seeds to level your pots (save the series that may be retired soon), and gradually fill up with LEs. It’s clear that this way, you’re more likely to clone something valuable. It’s statistics!

REMEMBER TO BUY
Don’t just sell: buy with confidence those seeds you think are perfect for cloning, also tapping into high-level Patreons who can distribute through the markets all the stuff from the monthly packages, event prizes or Karnivores.
It’s unlikely you’ll get everything you want on your own, because as we’ve mentioned several times, monthly LE drops are hard to come by, and that’s a huge advantage. And let me point out that there’s no reason to complain: be happy about it, because if you’re lucky enough to drop them, you’re holding a lot of value. You might not sell it right away — sometimes players wait to see if they can get a monthly LE by themselves — but already within the first few weeks of its withdrawal, you’ll notice that it’s sought after and in high demand. It’s also worth considering that if you don’t get a monthly drop, you might consider buying it to clone in the future (and if you drop it before the end of the month, you can always resell it).
WHERE AND HOW TO SELL
Don’t think that everything will happen automatically. It’s important to have a shop or stall in an official market, by excluding unofficial ones that won’t generate any qualified / useful traffic and aren’t regularly visited by the most loyal players.
There are a lot of groups where you can post your deals: always use them! You’ll often notice that as soon as you send a notice, someone teleports to check your spot: it’s not a coincidence! The community is very attentive to group notices. Remember not to spam and don’t use bots to flood, in order to respect others and to avoid being muted, and never specify prices. It’s pretty pointless to write that you have good seeds and pots; we could all agree with that. Stand out by indicating which pots and seeds you’re currently selling—at least name a few! Furthermore, the Potted Official Advertising group also allows you to post your deals via chat; use it, but remember to read the group rules carefully before sending your message! The same goes for the Potted Official Discord: there’s a dedicated section you should definitely use.
Finally, what I consider to be Potted’s added value: there is a huge number of auctions held daily, at different times, covering both the US and EU markets. If you don’t participate in auctions, you can’t expect to sell as well as those who do… Fortunately or unfortunately, that’s a fact. If you can’t participate in the auctions, try to compensate by advertising in the selling groups. However, pay attention to the importance of auctions: during these events you may find out which are the best seeds for your own playstyle, because auctioneers use to provide explanations about each item on panels, by also pointing out its specific rareness.
Hint: be seen! If you want to sell, your customers need to have confidence in you and know that you have good stuff as well updated shops / stalls!
ASK THE COMMUNITY
If you’re new to Potted or if you feel like your strategy isn’t working as expected, ask other players. The community is very active, and everyone is eager to help and grow together.

DISCLAIMER
Keep in mind that this is my personal strategy, based on my experience and my own interpretation of the game. I’m happy to share it, and I’ve received positive feedback from players who have tried it, but I can’t make any promise, of course. There are too many variables involved, including, obviously, the randomness factor. What I can say is that by applying statistics, you can reduce the risk of playing with unprofitable production.
